TMS Outsource (original product, add-on to wpDataTables)
This is a TMS Outsource original product, an add-on to wpDataTables, TMS's flagship WordPress plugin. Like Report Builder, it was developed directly from feature requests from the wpDataTables user base.
A lot of wpDataTables users were asking us if we could integrate the power of our tables and charts manager with the power of Gravity Forms, which has been a niche-leading form builder for WordPress for over a decade. The integration bridges the entire data lifecycle: collect data via Gravity Forms, then display, filter, sort, and edit it via wpDataTables.
From 2017 launch to ongoing compatibility updates.
The Gravity Forms integration was first developed and released in 2017, in response to requests from existing wpDataTables users. Version 1.0 covered core form entry display and filtering.
Subsequent updates have added support for additional Gravity Forms field types, inline editing of form entries, and API compatibility improvements as both Gravity Forms and wpDataTables have released new versions. The integration has been actively maintained since launch, with its roadmap driven directly by customer feedback and feature requests.

The most challenging aspect was the complexity of Gravity Forms and the data generated by this tool. Forms can be one-page or multi-page, fields can consist of one or multiple inputs, and data in the fields can be a date, time, file, or even table format. This makes the task of preparing entry data in table output quite complicated, since the integration must normalize all of these field structures into a consistent tabular format.
One more key challenge was the ability to call editing functionality directly out of wpDataTables, as it wasn't an anticipated use case for Gravity Forms developers. The Gravity Forms API was not designed to support inline editing of form entries from a third-party table interface, so this required building custom editing hooks that bridge wpDataTables' editing engine with Gravity Forms' entry storage.
We integrated deeply with the Gravity Forms API, having to extend it in several places to ensure compatibility with wpDataTables. This included custom field type handlers for composite data (dates split across multiple inputs, file uploads, multi-input fields), and adapter layers to translate Gravity Forms entry structures into the table column model wpDataTables expects.
Both Gravity Forms and wpDataTables are actively developed products with regular releases. Each new version of either plugin can introduce API changes that affect the integration. Maintaining compatibility across both product release cycles requires continuous testing and updates, making this a living integration rather than a one-time build.

Works great. I needed to show results of a Gravity form to a single user and did not want to make them an admin. I was able to password protect one page and let them view the results from the single Gravity form I created. This is exactly what I needed. It has many customization options that I have not yet fully explored but out of the box it was a great fit.
